What does the checkbox do?
The add to cart checkbox is a Facebook plugin that is placed below the "Add to cart" button on your product pages.
When a potential customer clicks on the add to cart/buy now button, but doesn't purchase the cart, an abandoned cart message will be sent to them on their Facebook Messenger.
After the customer finishes the purchase order confirmations and shipping notifications will be sent to their Facebook Messenger.
If you have FB Pixel installed on your store, you can track Octane AI opt-ins and create custom conversions and audiences based on these events. For each opt-in, the name of the event includes the [Octane AI] prefix, the name of the source and the word "opt-in" at the end, e.g. [Octane AI] Add to cart checkbox opt-in. It looks like this on the Events list:
Please note that customer needs to check the checkbox in order to receive the message.
How can I turn on this feature?
In order to turn on the add to cart checkbox simply go to Facebook Messenger → Website widgets, scroll down to the Add to cart checkbox section and click on the toggle button.
Can I customize the checkbox?
Yes, you can. Simply click on the Add to cart checkbox in Home or go to Facebook Messenger → Website widgets and it will open the editor pop-up.
You can then customize the message sent to customers after they opt-in from the add to cart checkbox. By sending no message, sending a custom message, or sending a message with a discount.
To create a custom message, select Custom message under Send message immediately after opt-in. You can then customize the opt-in request, the message sent after the customer accepts and the message received if the customer declines.
To create a message with a discount, select Discount message under Send message immediately after opt-in. After creating a discount code in Shopify’s back-end for use by customers, enter the code into Code. It will automatically be applied to the message with the ‘discount code’ tag highlighted in blue. You can then customize the opt-in request, the message sent after the customer accepts and the message received if the customer declines.
You can then customize how the checkbox looks on your site by selecting left-alignment or centering the text, and selecting a dark or light skin.
Next, you can customize the headline and subheadline with colours selected and save the customizations you’ve made.
What if I turn it on and have an issue I need solved?
For certain custom themes, you might need some extra adjustment from us to make it look right. The best thing to do is get in touch with our support team through the widget in the bottom right or by emailing [email protected] Keep in mind, Facebook's rules require the checkbox be by the add to cart button, but we can make other tweaks you might need.
Can I use this with the add to cart pop-up?
The add to cart checkbox and the pop-up can be enabled at the same time. If a customer has the checkbox selected, then they won't get the pop-up.
If they don't select the checkbox, then the pop-up will trigger.
