Customers will usually engage with more questions pages than results pages, but that doesn't mean results aren't important. Once a customer's journey through your quiz is complete, a results page that's tailored to be relevant and eye-catching can make or break whether you get a sale from a customer.

Once you understand each part of the results page, building them to fit the theme of your quiz and store is quite straightforward.

3.2. Rules

Knowing how to use all the settings on your results pages will make sure you can maximize the impact and relevance of each one.

1. Results

Results pages are the final pages of your quiz. Based on rules and conditions that you can set, a page with content and product blocks will be displayed to customers.

Rules can be used to require only one specific answer to land on a results page, or you create the exact answer path a customer has to take through your quiz to see a particular page.

As you gather more data about your audience in Octane AI, you'll be able to target your results pages with higher accuracy which increases the potential for conversions.

1.1. Default results page

All quizzes are created with a default results page. This is the page customers will land on if their answers don't trigger the conditions in any other results page.

This means a default results page can't be removed, but can be a great place to display new products, a featured collection or a product block of the most popular items on your store.

However, for best results targeted custom results pages should be created as well.

1.2. Adding a results page

Results pages can be added under Results when editing a quiz.

Sections aren't needed to create a results page, but you won't be able to set rules for which answers will trigger a results page unless those sections and answers are in your quiz as well.

If you've created your sections, or have your quiz planned out already, you'll be able to create specific results pages for different paths through your quiz.

To add a results page to your quiz, all you have to do is click on "Add results page".

You can also copy an existing results page by going into the page and clicking on "Copy results".

2. Product Blocks

Product blocks are groups of one or more products from your store that can be directly linked on a results page. Product blocks can be used not just to add products, but also additional content onto a results page.

Product blocks are made up of the following components:

Results pages start without a product block, so you'll have to create at least one per results page. To do that, you just need to click on "Add product block" while editing a results page:

You can even add multiple product blocks with different styling settings and content:

Let's take a look at what makes up a product block.

Settings

The product block settings is where you'll create a name for a product block. This name won't be visible to customers and can only be seen when editing a quiz in the dashboard.

An internal name is required for each of your product blocks to be saved. If you receive a save error letting you know that a product block is missing a name, make sure all of your product blocks have their internal names filled out!

2.1. Additional content

Product blocks can be used to add additional content to quizzes. Additional content can be in the form of:

  • Text

  • Image

  • Button

Buttons can be used to link to any external URL. In the example below, additional content has been added to different parts of the results page by adding them to separate product blocks.

2.2. Products

Products are added directly from your Shopify store when customizing a product block. Simply click on "Add product" to access your store's inventory:

You can add products in the following forms:

  • Product w/ all variants

  • Product w/ specific variant

  • Collection

Once added, a product will display the product image, name, price, quantity menu (optional), variants menu and an add to cart button.

If you add a collection, you won't be able to add products that aren't part of that collection. You'll also be able to access a link that redirects you to Shopify to edit your products or collections.

2.3. Product display settings

Product display settings allow you to customize how products will be shown on your results page. You'll be able to customize the ratio and alignments of each product displayed in your recommendations. Each product block has separate layout settings, so you can mix different types on the same results page by adding multiple product blocks.

When it comes to formatting images, the ratios are listed below:

  • Square: 1:1

  • Portrait: 2:3

  • Landscape: 3:2

You'll also be able to customize how your product recommendations are displayed for desktop and mobile devices separately with the amount of products per row as well as which parts of the product text are displayed.

You can adjust product settings separately for each product block you create, which means you can use a combination of different sizes and orientations to format your results page.

2.4. Product button settings

In the product button settings, you can customize the behavior of the product buttons in this block.

Button behavior

Button behavior lets you choose between three options for the product product:

  • Go to checkout: adds the item to cart and redirects the customer to checkout.

  • Add to cart: adds the item to cart without redirecting the customer.

  • Go to product page: redirects the customer to the item's product page without adding to cart.

You can also include an optional quantity drop-down. If this isn't selected, then the product button will only add a quantity of one per click.

Button text

The button text field allows you to customize the text that appears in the button.

If your products have been set to a small size, button text can include up to 21 characters while staying centered. If the products are large, you can use up to 26 characters.

Button style

You can choose between four style options for your button. Below is an example of each style:

You can also add a button to the product page that adds all of the product block's items to the customer's cart.

This will add an extra button to the product that can use the same styling options as the rest of the buttons, in addition to a page placement option.

After adding products to your results page, you'll still have to add rules and conditions before you can save your changes.

If you want to make sure that the font style on the buttons is consistent and fits the entire quiz, you can go to Quiz Settings โ†’ Typography and select the custom font family box for each button style:

Moreover, in the Color & styles section of the Quiz settings, you can choose the colors of individual elements of your buttons, such as background, text and border:

3. Rules

Rules let you set the specific answers a customer must answer in order to view a results page. If a customer doesn't meet any of the rules and conditions set in your results pages, then they'll be directed to your default results page.

Rules are made up of two components:

  • Conditions block: determines if all rules, or just one rule must be met within the block.

  • Rules: select the specific answers a customer must pick to see the results page.

3.1. Conditions block

Two types of conditions blocks can be made, and at least one will be required to create rules.

1. All conditions block

The all conditions block means a customer must meet all the rules inside of the block to see the results page. However, if there's an any conditions block inside, then it will count as fulfilled as long as only one rule inside of the block is met.

If you want your customers to follow a specific path to see this results page, you should set your first block to "All".

2. Any conditions block

The any conditions block means as long as a customer meets only one rule inside the block, the whole block is considered fulfilled. This lets you create optional routes to a certain result, or lets you setup a results page to be easier to land on.

If you want to create multiple paths to your results page, then you should set your first block to "Any".

3.2. Rules

Rules are added inside of conditions blocks. Each rule you add represents an answer from your quiz that can be answered to reach the results page the rule is added for.

If you add a rule inside of an all conditions block, then the answer must be selected.

If you add a rule inside of an any conditions block, then the answer doesn't have to be selected as long as another answer inside of the same block was picked.

Let's take a look at each part of a rule.

1. Add an answer to a rule

Once you select a question for your rule, you can use the "+" icon to select the answers from that question a customer must select.

At least one answer per rule is required to save changes.

2. Including multiple answers

Multiple answers from the same question can be added to the same rule together. Even if the rule is inside of an any conditions block, customers will meet conditions long as one of the included answers is selected.

3. Add a new rule

This adds a new rule to the conditions block. Rules will be separated by the text "OR if it's inside of an any conditions block, or "AND" if it's inside of an all conditions block.

To learn more about how rules, check out this article.

4. Background

Each page in your quiz can have separate background styling options. If there are no background options set for a page, it will use the options in quiz settings instead. Background settings can be edited on the results page edit screen under rules, or product blocks for the default results page.

You can customize two options in a results page's background settings:

  • Background color: set a background color for a specific results page.

  • Background image: upload a file to use as a specific results page's background.

Background colors can be specified with hexadecimal or RGB codes.

If your background image doesn't fill the screen, you can adjust its positioning with the image alignment settings. Lightness lets you adjust the brightness of the image, which is especially useful if the image clashes with any content or products.

TIP: an option to hide the background on mobile is available as well.

5. Actions

Klaviyo properties and values from your quiz can be customized under actions. As long as you're using Octane AI's built-in Klaviyo integration, any answers and results from a customer will be automatically be sent to Klaviyo after they submit their email.

If a customer doesn't complete a quiz, or completes a quiz then gives their email later, Octane AI will still be able to send events and properties to Klaviyo in both scenarios.

The name of the property marks it as a result, and the value is used to name the specific results page. No changes are necessary to use it in this format, but you can further customize a results page property if you'd like.

TIP: Customizing the property name can be useful if you have multiple quiz variations
