Every account in Octane AI automatically receives a unique long code number for use with SMS messaging features. This is a free number given to you for your business that will work upon activation of SMS.

1. What is a Long Code?

A long code is a ten-digit number that represents any texts sent by your brand. Long codes will be used for anyone who has a monthly volume of under 2,000 SMS which has a throughput of 1 MPS at $0.012 per message. Once you exceed 2,000 SMS in a month, your account will automatically be given a toll-free number.

2. Registering Your Long Code

After you setup your SMS, you'll be able to register your number in your Octane AI dashboard's Settings page by clicking on Register number:

What information will I need to provide upon registering?

Registering your long code will require the following information:

  • Business Name

  • Billing Address

  • Full Name (first and last)

  • Email Address

  • Phone Number

Why do I need to register my long code?

Registering your number is considered best practice as this is requested by all carriers. Failing to register your long code can cause your campaigns to be blocked by the carriers themselves.

3. Troubleshooting warnings and errors with submissions

After activating your SMS features, you will see a friendly reminder to register your long code in order to get the most out of your SMS campaigns and to ensure proper deliverability:

This error can happen due to a number of reasons being as simple as missing content or an invalid character. If you encounter this error, please reach out to our support team and we will assist you with getting this fixed and resubmitted.
