On September 27, 2022, Octane AI will be removing support for Facebook Messenger and Facebook Ads features, so you will need to migrate to another platform before that date. We are recommending that our merchants migrate to ManyChat, because they offer a robust chatbot with many of the same features as Octane AI's, as well as additional tools like Instagram and WhatsApp compatibility.

In this article, you'll learn how to export your Smart Responses keywords and auto-responses from Octane AI and migrate them to ManyChat.

1. Exporting Smart Responses from Octane AI

Follow the steps below to export your Smart Responses from Octane AI:

  1. In Octane AI, go to Facebook Messenger > Customer care and select Smart responses.

  2. Under the Messages Your Bot Understands section, click Download Messages. This will download a CSV file to your computer.

Each row represents a programmed Smart Response.

  • Customer says: The keyword / phrase that your bot is listening for from your customers.

  • Bot says: The responses programmed into the Smart Responses feature that will send in response to the keyword / phrase.

  • URLs for links, images, or audio files included in the bot's response.

2. Setting up Smart Responses in ManyChat

Once you've exported your Smart Responses, you're ready to start setting them up in ManyChat with their Keywords feature.

1. In ManyChat, go to Automation > Keywords and click New Keyword.

2. Update the + Keyword field with the keyword from the "Customer says" column of the Octane Smart Responses export. You can add multiple keywords that will all be connected to the same reply (i.e. the same value in the "Bot says" column).

3. Update the Channel field to Messenger.

4. Click Create.

5. In the Reply field, click Create New Reply. Once you have created other flows, you can also click Select Existing to connect this keyword to an existing flow.

6. In the flow builder, click Add a text to enter an auto-reply for this keyword. You can optionally add images, buttons, audio files, and more to your response. You can also click Next Step to add more steps to this flow.

7. When you're happy with your response, click Publish.
