1. Quick Steps

Use these quick steps as a reference for how to move subscribers over.

Using Facebook ads to move subscribers from Octane AI to Manychat

1. Create a new list in Octane AI targeting Messenger subscribers and enable "Create Facebook custom audience" (this may take some time to populate).

2. Go to Facebook ads manager and create a new ad set.

3. Attach the custom audience you created to the ad set.

4. From Manychat, go to the Ads page.

5. Create a new ad targeting the ad set containing the audience.

This allows you to send a targeted ad to your whole subscriber base, and anyone that responds in Messenger will be added as a subscriber in Manychat as well.

Why can't I message my subscribers directly?

Facebook's 24-hour rule means you can only message users who are within 24 hours of interacting with your Facebook page.

Because of this, Facebook does not have a free broadcast option capable of reaching your entire subscriber base. Only Facebook ads are able to contact subscribers outside of the 24 hour messaging period.

2. Octane AI

Transferring your Facebook Messenger subscribers to Manychat begins in Octane AI. To proceed, you'll need to connect your Facebook ad account.

Since subscribers can't be imported into Manychat directly, this method creates a custom audience in Facebook ads which gives you the opportunity to message all of your existing subscribers from Manychat's platform.

Combining the ad you send from Manychat with a sale announcement, or a link to your quiz can be a great way to do more than just migrate subscribers.

2.1. Turning a List Into a Facebook Ads Audience

In Octane AI, go to the Customers page in the left menu. Then, create a new list.

For the list type, select "Targeting" and for the targeting filter, select "If someone is/isn't part of a list".

Then, select the "Messenger subscribers" list. This will create a new copy of your subscribers list that we'll be able to turn into a Facebook ads custom audience.

Before creating the list, make sure to enable the switch to create a custom audience.

Once the list is created, it will populate and create an audience in ads manager as well.

This may take some time to populate. If you don't see a full custom audience in Facebook after a few hours, contact our support team and we'll be happy to help.

2.2. Adding an Audience to an Ad Set

In Facebook ads manager, you can add the Octane AI custom audience to any ad set in an existing or new campaign.

This will allow you to select the same ad set in the next steps and target your subscribers from Manychat.

3. Manychat

Once you have an ad set created with Octane AI's custom audience in it, we can move to Manychat and set up the ad.

By sending the ad out from Manychat, this ensures that any responses will also become subscribers in Manychat.

3.1. Creating an Ad

In Manychat, find the Ads page in the left menu. If you haven't connected your ad account already, follow the prompts to connect your Facebook page and ad account within Manychat.

Make sure to select the ad set that contains the same custom audience exported from Octane AI while creating the ad.

Users will need to respond at least once to become subscribers, so it's also a great idea to add in at least one reply option to the add messaging.
