How to use points in your quiz

Use points to score shoppers’ answers and personalize their quiz results. Each answer can add to or subtract from one or more scores, called points dimensions.

Points let you assign scores to quiz answers and use the totals to personalize results. This guide explains how to create scoring dimensions, add points to answers, and use scores to recommend products or control which content appears in your quiz.

Create your points dimensions

  1. Open your quiz in the editor.

  2. Click Settings in the top bar.

  3. Select Points.

  4. Click Create Your First Dimension.

  5. Click the dimension’s name and enter a short, recognizable name.

  6. Optionally, add a Label. This is the display name shown in the editor.

  7. Click + next to Dimensions to add more dimensions.

The dimension’s name is also used when displaying its score with a variable.

Set the dimension order

Drag dimensions to reorder them. If two dimensions tie for the highest score, the one higher in the Dimensions list wins. Put your preferred outcome first if you want it to take priority on a tie.

Assign points to answers

You can assign points to Multiple Choice, Image Choice, and Slider questions in choices mode. Use either the points grid or an individual answer’s settings. Both update the same scoring values.

Use the points grid

  1. Open Settings → Points → Edit Points.

  2. Under Question pages, select a page.

  3. Find the answer’s row and the dimension’s column.

  4. Click the cell and enter the points value.

  5. Repeat for the remaining answers and pages.

Leave a cell empty for 0 points. Enter a negative value to subtract points, or a decimal such as 0.5 to give an answer less weight.

Press Tab or Enter to move between cells.

Each column’s additional menu lets you rename the dimension, copy its values, fill the column with a value, or clear it. Use the undo and redo arrows to reverse grid edits.

Tip: Use the eye icons to hide columns you aren’t editing.

Use an answer’s settings

  1. Select a question on the page.

  2. Under Choices, expand an answer.

  3. Under Points, click Add.

  4. Choose a dimension and enter the points value.

  5. Add more dimensions if the answer should affect multiple scores.

Use the trash icon to remove a points assignment.

Preview your scoring

  1. Open Settings → Points → Preview.

  2. Select answers.

  3. Watch the Running totals update.

  4. Test different combinations to check that your scoring produces the expected outcome.

Selections in this scoring preview aren’t saved as shopper answers.

Recommend products from the winning dimension

Assign products to each dimension, then use a Products block to show the winning dimension’s recommendations.

Choose winner products

  1. Open Settings → Points.

  2. Click the Winner products bag icon on a dimension.

  3. Select individual products, products with a tag, or a collection.

  4. Repeat for the other dimensions.

Display the recommendations

  1. On your results page, add or select a Products block.

  2. Under Source, choose Auto from Points.

  3. Optionally, set Max products to limit the number displayed.

The block shows products assigned to the highest-scoring dimension.

If a dimension has no winner products, the block’s settings display a Missing winners warning. Follow the link back to Settings → Points to add them.

Show content based on scores

Use points in visibility rules to show relevant content or pages. You can also use them in Jump Rules to control where shoppers go next.

  1. Select the component you want to personalize.

  2. Open Visibility → Edit logic. For a page, open its settings and choose Visibility or Jump Rules.

  3. Choose Highest score or Compare values.

  4. Select the dimension and configure the condition.

  5. Click Apply.

For Is highest, use Compared with to choose which dimensions compete. All dimensions are included by default. Combine conditions using ALL (AND) or ANY (OR) groups. Use NOT to reverse a condition.

Display scores in your quiz

Insert a points variable into supported text to show the shopper’s score. To show the total across all dimensions, use: {{_points_total}}

Points dimensions are also available in the variable picker.

Test and publish

Use the scoring preview to check your point assignments, then use Preview in the editor’s top bar to test the full quiz. Check the winning outcome, recommended products, conditional content, and any displayed scores. Include a combination that produces a tie so you can confirm the dimension order. Click Publish when you’re ready to make the changes live.

Troubleshoot your points setup

The wrong dimension wins

Review the answer values and use the scoring preview to check the totals. If the scores tie, the dimension higher in the list wins. You can add a tie-breaker question with fractional points, such as 0.5, to help separate close outcomes.

No products appear

Check that the winning dimension has products assigned and that the Products block uses Auto from Points. Look for a Missing winners warning in the block’s settings.

A question isn’t available in the grid

Only supported choice questions can receive points. Text, email, and number questions can’t be scored directly.

Scores go below zero

Negative points subtract from a dimension’s total, so a score can fall below zero. Review negative assignments if this isn’t intended.
