Smart Copy lets you add AI-generated text directly to your quiz. Give the AI instructions for what to write, and Smart Copy can use each shopper's answers, recommended products, and other quiz content to create a personalized message. Smart Copy works with all Octane AI product recommendation options.
Add Smart Copy
Open your quiz in the editor.
In the Components panel, find Smart Copy under AI.
Drag Smart Copy onto the page where you want the personalized content to appear.
Select the Smart Copy block to open its settings.
For example, you can add Smart Copy to a results page next to your product recommendations to explain why the recommended products are a good fit.
Add AI instructions
Use AI Instructions to tell Smart Copy what to generate.
Be specific about:
What the message should include
Tone and writing style
Desired length
Which quiz answers or content it should reference
Any formatting requirements
Type @ in your instructions to reference pages, components, quiz variables, and shopper answers.
For example:
Write one short, warm sentence of no more than 25 words explaining why the recommended delivery plan fits the shopper's preferred delivery frequency. Don't use emojis or markdown.
Click Preview to see the personalized content Smart Copy generates. The editor canvas displays a preview of your instructions. The generated content appears in the live quiz and quiz preview.
Add fallback text
Use Fallback Text to choose what shoppers see if Smart Copy can't generate personalized content. This ensures shoppers still see useful content if AI-generated text is unavailable.
For example:

Style your Smart Copy
Use the Smart Copy settings to customize its appearance.
You can adjust:
Font family, weight, and size
Line height
Text color
Text alignment
Width and position
Margins and padding
You can also add Custom CSS classes or Custom CSS for additional styling. CSS using .component is scoped to that Smart Copy block.
Control when Smart Copy appears
By default, Smart Copy is shown whenever the page containing it is displayed.
To show it only to certain shoppers:
Select the Smart Copy block.
Open Visibility.
Click Edit logic.
Add the conditions that determine when the block should appear.
For example, you can show different Smart Copy blocks depending on how a shopper answers a specific question.
Use HTML with Smart Copy
Smart Copy can generate HTML if you need more control over its output.
You can use HTML to create content such as:
Lists
Styled text
Different text colors
Custom alignment
Images
You can also add HTML to your fallback text or reference image URLs in your AI instructions.
Use Smart Copy with integrations
Each Smart Copy block can be sent to your integrations as a custom property.
The property value is the personalized content generated for that shopper. If generation fails and fallback text is displayed instead, the fallback text is sent.
If your Smart Copy contains HTML, the HTML tags, attributes, and styling are included in the value sent to the integration.
