If you're having trouble seeing Octane AI data flow into Klaviyo through the integration, follow this troubleshooting guide.

๐Ÿ’ก What you'll learn

How to troubleshoot this common integration question.

๐Ÿ’ก Prerequisites

You'll need to connect the Klaviyo integration within Octane AI, and have at least one quiz to test with.

Why am I not seeing quiz data in Klaviyo?

When an email or phone number is synced into Klaviyo through Octane AI, this is the timeline of events you should see:

  1. Within 0-1 minute: email and/or phone number is synced into Klaviyo.

  2. Within 1-2 minutes: custom properties and the quiz completed event appear in the customer profile.

  3. After 2-3 minutes: customers will be processed into any segments & flows their quiz data is connected to.

If you're not seeing quiz data in a segment or flow in step 3, this doesn't necessarily mean quiz data is not passing into Klaviyo. A more likely cause is that the right quiz data is not passing into Klaviyo in steps 1 or 2.

Checking data in Octane AI to make sure it's labeled correctly

One of the most common causes of seeing data discrepancies in Klaviyo is mismatching labels for the data in Octane AI.

To make sure that the data your quiz is passing is labeled correctly, visit the Connect tab in the quiz editor.

Custom properties will be listed in the Connect page, and a Klaviyo-specific page can be opened to customize the name of the quiz completed event.

Making sure data is passing to Klaviyo

If you're testing out your Klaviyo integration from Octane AI, and you're not seeing data go into Klaviyo, the first step will be to isolate where and what kind of data is failing to make it through.

When a profile goes into Klaviyo from a quiz, the profile should be populated with the following:

  • Email or phone number

  • Custom properties

  • Quiz completed event (Octane Plus only)

Testing the Octane AI opt-in process

The first step in our troubleshooting will be trying an opt-in on a fresh slate.

  1. Open an incognito or private mode window.

  2. Navigate to your quiz.

  3. Take the quiz, and submit a new email that has not been used before.

  4. Complete the quiz.

This will test the opt-in process without any other factors involved that could interfere, such as browser plug-ins, privacy apps and more.
