What is the Image Analyzer

The Image Analyzer is a quiz question type that uses AI to examine an uploaded image and output a result based on your custom prompt. You can use this output to power Smart Copy, Smart Products, and more.

When to use the Image Analyzer

Use the Image Analyzer when you want to:

  • Help shoppers find makeup and skincare products that match their skin tone.

  • Analyze a user’s style from a selfie or outfit photo.

  • Enable advanced personalization through image-based AI analysis.

  • And more.

Set up the Image Analyzer in your quiz

Once you click on Add question in your quiz, you will find the Image analyzer question type:

You can then click on Image analyzer under your question, and you will see the following settings on the right:

  • Image analyzer

    • Instructions for AI: This is where you can describe what the AI should analyze in the image.

    • Allow question to be skipped: You can check this box if you want the customer to be able to skip the question.

  • Copy settings

    • Upload button text: The text that will go inside the upload (left) button.

    • Take photo button text: The text that will go on the take photo (right) button.

    • Turn on camera button text and Ready to take photo text: The texts that go here once the customer clicks on take photo:

You will also find additional settings by going to Analysis loading state on the left:

  • Loading title: The title that will be shown on top while the image is uploading.

  • Loading subtitle: The subtitle that will be shown below the title.

  • Show loader: You can check this if you want the loading animation to be shown while the image uploads.

Aside from all the options listed above, you can also personalize your Image analyzer question by adding content to it, like all other question types. You can read more about adding content to your question pages here.

Using the Image Analyzer in your quiz results

The real magic with the Image Analyzer comes when you use it with our other AI features: Smart Copy and Smart Products.

You can use the results from the Image Analyzer in your prompts for both Smart Copy and Smart Products to give out a fully personalized results page with custom copy and targeted product recommendations. Here is an example of a results page with prompts for both Smart Copy and Smart Products targeting the Image analyzer question:

And here is what the results look like when a customer takes this quiz and submits a photo of themselves:

The example shown above is for suggesting clothing products based on the customer's style, but the Image analyzer also works great for suggesting skincare and makeup products, such as shades that match the customer's skin tone.

Accessing the submitted image and the analysis result

There are two ways you can access the submitted image and the results from the analysis:

  1. By exporting the quiz response to a CSV file.

  2. By using them in your integrations, such as Klaviyo.

Accessing the data via the quiz responses file

By exporting the quiz responses to a CSV file (check our tutorial for that here), you can fetch the URL to the image that has been submitted by the customer, as well as the results of the analysis by the AI:

Accessing the data via integrations

The image and its resulting analysis are also sent to the integrations via custom properties and the quiz completed event. Here are some examples on Klaviyo:
