If your Octane AI quiz data isn't appearing in Klaviyo as expected, start by testing the integration with a clean browser session and a new email address. Then use the steps below to identify whether the issue is with the profile, quiz data, list settings, or flow.
Start with a clean test
Quiz submissions and opt-ins are tracked using browser cookies. When testing multiple times in the same browser session, previous quiz answers can sometimes be associated with your latest test.
For the most accurate test:
Open a new incognito or private browser window.
Open your published quiz.
Complete the quiz and submit an email address you haven't used for previous tests.
Finish the quiz.
Find the new profile in Klaviyo and check the synced data.
Check what is syncing to Klaviyo
When someone completes a quiz and opts in, their Klaviyo profile should include:
Email and/or phone number
Quiz custom properties
Quiz completed event
The profile usually appears first, followed by the quiz data. Allow a few minutes for all custom properties, segments, and flows to update before troubleshooting further.
If the profile appears but the expected quiz data doesn't, open your quiz in Octane AI and go to Integrations.
Check that:
Your custom properties match the current quiz answers and results.
Your quiz completed event is labeled correctly.
You're testing the current published version of the quiz.
Opt-ins aren't appearing in the Klaviyo list
If a profile appears in Klaviyo but isn't added to your selected list, check your list's opt-in settings. If the Klaviyo list uses double opt-in, the customer needs to confirm their subscription before they're added to the list.
To test whether double opt-in is causing the issue, you can temporarily switch the list to single opt-in and complete another test with a new email address.
Check which list is selected
If you've selected a Klaviyo list for an individual quiz, that setting takes priority over the default list selected in your account Integrations page. Open your quiz and check the Integrations tab to confirm which list is receiving opt-ins.
Profiles are syncing without quiz data
If the customer's email or phone number appears in Klaviyo but their quiz answers or results don't, wait a few minutes and refresh the profile.
If the data still doesn't appear:
Open a new incognito or private browser window.
Complete the quiz again.
Use a new email address.
Check the new Klaviyo profile.
If the issue continues, check the custom property labels under the quiz's Integrations tab.
A custom property isn't available in Klaviyo
A custom property or value must reach Klaviyo at least once before it becomes available in Klaviyo's segment, filter, and trigger menus.
You can register the property by:
Completing your published quiz and selecting the answer you want to use.
Manually adding the custom property and value to a Klaviyo profile.
Once Klaviyo has received the property, it should become available when creating segments, filters, and flows.
Variables aren't showing quiz data
If a variable in your email appears blank or displays as raw code, check how the email and flow are set up.
For event variables to work:
The email must be inside a metric-triggered flow.
The flow must use the correct quiz completed event.
The data you're referencing must be present in the event that triggered the flow.
To check the event data:
Open the email inside your quiz completed flow.
Click Preview & test.
Open Preview Event Info.
Confirm that the data you want to use appears in the event.
Click the value to copy the exact variable.
Note: You can build your email in Klaviyo's template editor, but event variables need to be previewed from inside the metric-triggered flow to display quiz data correctly.
