Octane AI uses a credit-based pricing system to track quiz activity and AI-powered features. Credits give you visibility into your usage and help you manage costs based on how shoppers interact with your quizzes and which AI features you use.
What are credits?
Credits measure usage across your quizzes and AI-powered features.
Credits are used in two ways:
Quiz starts: Each quiz start uses 1 credit. A start is counted when a shopper moves past the first screen of a live quiz.
AI-powered features: AI actions consume credits based on the feature and the processing required.
Credits are deducted automatically as features run on your published quizzes. Your credit balance resets automatically on the first day of your billing cycle. You can check your usage and remaining balance under Billing > Usage details in your Octane AI dashboard.
Features with additional credit usage
Some AI-powered features consume additional credits when they run.
Smart Products
Smart Products uses AI to recommend products based on shoppers' answers and your instructions. Credits are consumed whenever AI processes quiz answers to generate product recommendations. Usage depends on the amount of processing required.
Smart Copy
Smart Copy generates personalized text, including headlines, product explanations, descriptions, and results page content. Credit usage depends on the length and complexity of the generated text.
Smart Properties
Smart Properties generates personalized values based on quiz answers. These values can be displayed in your quiz or passed to integrations for further personalization. Each generated value consumes credits depending on the processing required.
Image Analysis
Image Analysis lets shoppers upload or take a photo during a quiz. AI analyzes the image and returns a description and structured answers/values. These answers can be used for product recommendations, quiz logic, calculations, and personalized content. Image Analysis uses 0.3 credits per analysis run.

Manage overages and credit limits
If you reach your monthly credit limit, what happens next depends on your Overages Protection settings.
With Overages Protection enabled
Your quizzes and AI features continue running.
Additional credits are billed at your plan's overage rate.
You can set a monthly overage limit.
You can receive usage alerts as you approach your limit.
With Overages Protection disabled
New quiz starts and AI-powered features pause when your credits run out.
You can configure alerts to monitor your usage.
Services resume when credits reset, you upgrade your plan, or you enable Overages Protection.
To manage these settings, open Billing > Credits usage limits in your dashboard.
Free trial credits
New accounts receive 300 trial credits to explore Octane AI. You'll receive notifications after using 80% and 90% of your trial credits. When your trial credits run out, your account automatically transitions to the paid plan selected during signup. For accounts transitioning from a free trial, Overages Protection is enabled by default so quizzes can continue running.
