If your website supports multiple languages, you'll have several options for displaying a quiz in multiple languages.

Since language translation features aren't present in Octane AI's quiz editor, the best methods are:

  1. Using a 3rd party tool, like G | translate to translate your store content.

  2. Creating multiple versions of a quiz, and linking the appropriate version in different pages according to the region/language.

πŸ’‘ What you'll learn

πŸ’‘ Prerequisites

The solution described in this article works with Shopify stores only.

How to translate your quiz

Within Octane AI's editor, nearly all text elements can be manually changed which allows you to manually translate quizzes into other languages.

One way you can do this is by creating a separate version for each language, and adding it to regional versions of your website.

But this isn't practical for all scenarios - for example, what if you have a lot of languages to translate into? Or support multiple quizzes within a single domain, which makes creating different versions of a quiz embed more complex?

An automatic content translator can work great with Octane AI quizzes.

An example of an automatic translator that's compatible with embedded content like quizzes is G | translate.

  • Check out G | translate on the Shopify app store here

Setting up G | translate

Apps like G | translate use Google translate dynamically on content on your website. On paid plans, you'll also have the ability to manually tweak those translations or even have translations activate when someone lands on a page.

πŸ’‘ Can I use Shopify's Translate & Adapt app?

Shopify's native translation app, Translate & Adapt isn't able to translate embedded content like Octane AI quizzes.

This makes it incompatible with Octane AI content. Instead, you'll need an app like G | translate that applies its translation to all content on a page.

πŸ“• Installing G | Translate

  1. Add G | translate from the Shopify app store.

  2. Once the app is installed, you'll be taken to the G | translate page in Shopify.

  3. Select the languages you want to support.

  4. Scroll down until you find the How to position the selector on your shop? (PLEASE READ) section.

  5. If you have a modern Shopify theme, click the "enable the language selector" link.

  6. Once the language selector widget is enabled, save your changes.

  7. IF you have an older or custom Shopify theme, you may need to manually add code to your website to have the language selector show up.

Once installed and enabled, website visitors will be able to translate your entire website including any Octane AI quizzes automatically.

G | translate offers more insight in their documentation on what kinds of customizations you can do with its translation behavior.
