Octane AI Analytics helps you understand how shoppers interact with your quizzes, from their first visit to their final purchase. Use it to track engagement, analyze revenue, explore shopper paths, and identify opportunities to improve your quiz performance.
Open Analytics
Click Analytics in the left menu.
Select Overview to review quiz performance or People to explore individual shopper data.
Use the quiz selector to view analytics for all quizzes or a specific quiz.
You can also access Analytics from the Quizzes page.
Filter your analytics
Use the filters at the top of Analytics to focus on specific data:
Date range: Today, Yesterday, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, All, or Custom.
Timezone: Choose the timezone used to group your data by day.
Channel: Filter by traffic source, such as email, social media, or paid search.
Device: Mobile, tablet, or desktop.
Visitors: New or returning shoppers.

Each metric includes a trend and comparison with the previous period, when data is available.
Understand your key metrics
Analytics organizes performance into several categories.
Sessions
Metric | What it measures |
Views | Total times your published quiz was opened |
Unique viewers | Estimated number of individual shoppers who viewed your quiz |
Starts | Quiz visits where shoppers interacted with a question or moved forward |
Completions | Visits that reached and completed the final required page |
Completion rate | Percentage of quiz starts that resulted in completions |
Typical time to complete | Median time shoppers take to finish the quiz |
Opt-ins | Email and phone opt-ins collected through your quiz |
Note: Quiz views from the editor's Preview aren't included in Analytics. Unique viewers are estimates and may be affected by tracking consent.
Revenue
Metric | What it measures |
Total revenue | Revenue from orders attributed to your quiz |
Added from the quiz | Revenue from products added to the cart directly through the quiz |
Shown, bought later | Revenue from products shown in the quiz and purchased later |
Bought, not shown | Revenue from products purchased in attributed orders but not shown in the quiz |
Orders | Number of orders attributed to your quiz |
Average order value | Total attributed revenue divided by orders |
Typical time to buy | Median time between starting a quiz and purchasing an item added during that visit |
Typical time to come back and buy | Median time between a quiz visit and a later purchase of a shown product |
Analytics also tracks Results opened, showing how often someone opens a shared quiz results link.

Understand how revenue is attributed
Octane AI connects orders to quiz visits using cart activity, checkout information, or the email address provided during the quiz. The Order-matching window determines how long after a quiz visit an order can be attributed to that quiz. The default is 7 days. To change it, go to Order-matching window at the top of Analytics and set a value between 1 and 30 days. Changes apply to future orders. Previously attributed orders aren't recalculated.
Keep in mind:
Products added directly from the quiz always count, even outside the order-matching window.
Email matching can attribute orders containing products that weren't recommended in the quiz.
Revenue is calculated after discounts but before shipping and taxes.
Refunds and cancellations aren't subtracted from previously recorded revenue.
Revenue is displayed in your store's currency.
Because attribution methods differ, Octane AI revenue may not match your Shopify reports exactly.
Explore individual quiz performance
Select a quiz from the By quiz table or the quiz picker to see more detailed analytics.
The quiz Overview includes:
Completions per day: Track views, starts, and completions over time, including when new quiz versions went live.
Funnel by page: See how many shoppers reached each page, how long they spent there, and where they dropped off.
Recommended products: Review products associated with quiz orders and how they contributed to revenue.
Answers: Analyze answer selections, completion rates, opt-ins, conversions, orders, and revenue.
By version: Compare performance across published versions of your quiz.
Who came, from where: Understand your traffic sources, devices, countries, and visitor types.
Open the Paths tab to see the routes shoppers actually took through your quiz.
You can:
Filter by Everyone, Finished, or Left early.
Explore how shoppers moved between pages.
Identify pages where shoppers dropped off or returned to previous steps.
Review how often shoppers used Jump Rules and Visibility Rules.
Click View as table to explore the data in a table.
Tip: Paths data may be less reliable with fewer than 50 visits. As more shoppers complete your quiz, patterns become clearer.
Explore shopper data with People
The People tab lets you find shoppers who provided an email address or phone number through your quizzes. You can search for shoppers, filter by quiz or answers, and open individual profiles to review their quiz sessions, answers, orders, and results. From a shopper's profile, you can export their information, sync their profile to Shopify, or delete their profile.
Export your analytics
Open Analytics and click Export.
Choose CSV or JSON.
Click Request export.
Your export is prepared in the background and emailed to you when ready. You can also export product data from Recommended products or shopper data from People.
Note: Analytics exports contain daily metrics and don't include your selected filters.
Check your tracking setup
At the bottom of Analytics Overview, the Is everything connected? card helps you identify potential tracking issues. It checks signals such as Shopify orders, checkout tracking, and whether your published quizzes are displaying products. You'll also see the percentage of visits that declined tracking consent during the last seven days.
Keep in mind: Tracking consent can affect visitor identification and reporting. Shoppers who decline tracking may be counted as new visitors on each visit.
Improve your quiz performance
Use Analytics to identify opportunities for improvement, such as pages with high drop-off rates or questions with low completion rates. Once you've identified a potential improvement, use Experiments to test a different version of your quiz and measure its impact.
For instructions, see Create and manage Experiments.
