To get started, you’ll need a GA4 property with a web data stream for your store.
Find your GA4 Measurement ID
In Google Analytics, select the property used for your store.
Open Admin → Data collection and modification → Data streams.
Select your store’s Web data stream.
Copy the Measurement ID, which starts with G-.
Connect Google Analytics in Octane AI
Open your quiz and go to → Integrations.
Open Google Analytics.
Enter your GA4 Measurement ID in the tracking ID field.
Save your settings.
Note: The integration uses a GA4 Measurement ID. Universal Analytics IDs starting with UA- aren’t supported.
Choose events for your quiz
Go to your quiz → Integrations.
Select Google Analytics.
Under This quiz, labeled Quiz only, select the events you want to send.
Optionally, enter a custom Event name or Event category. Leave these fields blank to use the defaults. Event names must be 40 characters or fewer, start with a letter, and contain only letters, numbers, and underscores—no spaces.
Click Save changes, then Done and Publish to make the quiz changes live.
Tip: You can also update the store-wide tracking code from this panel. That setting still applies to all quizzes.
Default event names follow the pattern oct_quiz_<quiz_name>_<action>. The default event category is [Octane AI] Quiz. Custom names let you match an existing naming convention or group several quizzes under one event name. Use distinct completion names if you want to compare individual quizzes.
Note: Events are selected per quiz. You can enable tracking for some quizzes and leave it disabled for others.
Test your tracking
Open your published quiz on your live store.
Accept analytics cookies if your store requests consent.
Start and complete the quiz.
In GA4, open Reports → Realtime.
Check the Event count by Event name card for your quiz events.
Events should appear within a few minutes. Standard reports and Explorations can take 24–48 hours to process the data.
View event totals
In GA4, open the Events report under Reports → Engagement, if available in your report navigation.
Search for your event names, or search for oct_quiz_ if you use the defaults.
Troubleshoot missing events
If events aren’t appearing, confirm that:
The Measurement ID starts with G- and matches the property you’re viewing.
The events are selected under This quiz.
You clicked Save changes and published the quiz.
Analytics consent was granted during your test.
Ad blockers or browser privacy settings aren’t blocking tracking.
If events appear in Realtime but not in other reports, allow time for processing and check the report’s date range.
