Track quiz events with the Meta Pixel

Add your Meta Pixel to an Octane AI quiz to track quiz starts and completions. Use these events to understand engagement and build audiences for your Meta advertising.

Written by Ivana

You’ll need a Meta Pixel set up in Meta Events Manager and its Pixel ID. Meta Pixel settings are configured separately for each quiz.

Find your Pixel ID

In Meta Events Manager, select your pixel or dataset. Copy its Pixel ID, shown beneath its name or in Settings.

Add the pixel to your quiz

  1. In Octane AI, go to your quiz → Integrations.

  2. Select Meta Pixel.

  3. Paste your ID into Pixel ID.

  4. Optionally, enter custom event names under When someone starts the quiz and When someone completes the quiz.

  5. Click Save changes, then Done.

  6. Click Publish to make the changes live.

Repeat these steps for every quiz you want to track. You can use the same Pixel ID across multiple quizzes.

Note: Clicking Add next to Meta Pixel on the dashboard’s Integrations page doesn’t connect it. Configure the pixel inside the quiz editor.

Understand your quiz events

Once a Pixel ID is configured, the integration automatically sends two custom events:
Quiz started: When someone starts your quiz

Quiz completed: When someone completes the quiz

Both events fire automatically. You can rename them, but you can’t disable one independently. If you want several quizzes to use one shared event name, enter the same custom name in each quiz. Keep the names distinct if you want to report on individual quizzes.

Test your tracking

  1. Open your pixel in Meta Events Manager.

  2. Select Test events and open your store URL using the website testing option.

  3. Open your published quiz.

  4. Accept tracking cookies if your store requests consent.

  5. Start and complete the quiz.

  6. Check that both custom events appear.

You can also use the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension to check events while testing the live quiz.

Use quiz events in Meta

Once Meta has received your events, use them to create website custom audiences. For example, you can include shoppers who triggered the Started event and exclude those who triggered the Completed event. You can also create a custom conversion based on quiz completion for use in supported campaign reporting and optimization settings.

Troubleshoot missing events

Check your quiz settings

Confirm that the correct Pixel ID is saved in the quiz and that your changes are published. Settings from one quiz don’t automatically apply to another.

Check your browser

Ad blockers, privacy settings, and consent choices can prevent tracking. Test in a browser without tracking-blocking extensions and grant the relevant consent.

Check whether Meta is blocking the events

In Events Manager, open your pixel or dataset and go to Settings → Manage event blocking, if available. Review quiz events marked as pending or blocked. Follow Meta’s prompts to confirm legitimate events or resolve their blocked status, then test again.
