This guide will introduce you to what you need to know to get started with using Octane AI's Klaviyo integration.

πŸ’‘ What you'll learn

πŸ’‘ Prerequisites

  • Octane Plus is required for certain Klaviyo features.

How Octane AI's Klaviyo integration works

The core value in Octane AI's Klaviyo integration is the ability to pass on any data you collect in a quiz into Klaviyo along with a customer's email or SMS opt-in.

The data that can be passed on includes:

  • Answers

  • Recommended products

  • Results page URL

  • Email

  • SMS

In Klaviyo, this data can be used to segment customers, trigger & filter flows and even create dynamic email content.

πŸ”Ž How syncing data works

When someone takes a quiz and submits an email or SMS opt-in, their quiz data as well as their opt-in will automatically be sent to Klaviyo as long as the integration has been connected.

There may be some cases where the profile or data doesn't fully sync. The most common causes for this are:

  • Double opt-in is enabled for your list

  • Custom properties are mislabeled in the quiz editor

Connecting Octane AI with Klaviyo

  1. In Octane AI, go to the Integrations page by clicking on Quizzes and then Integrations in the left menu.

  2. Next to Klaviyo, click the "Add" button (or "Customize" if you're already connected).

  3. At the top of the pop-up window, click on "Enable Oauth Authentication".

  4. Select a list for all Octane AI contacts to sync to.

  5. Complete authentication for your Klaviyo account in the pop-up window that appears.

If you don't select a list in step 4, emails & SMS will still be sent to Klaviyo with quiz data but they won't be added to any particular list.

These customers will still be able to be segmented, added to flows, and so on.

How to verify your quiz data

Before syncing any data into Klaviyo, it's best to make sure that your quiz data is labeled correctly. This can be done by opening your quiz in the quiz editor and checking the Connect tab. The Connect tab will show what the custom properties that correspond to each answer & results page look like.

These properties represent:

Although custom properties should match your quiz content, they can sometimes be de-synced when a quiz is created from a template or when content is copied.

Registering quiz data in Klaviyo

Once you've verified that your data matches your answers (or you've customized them the way you'd like), the data will need to be sent to Klaviyo at least once before it can be targeted by Klaviyo features.

πŸ“• Adding quiz data to Klaviyo with an opt-in

You can use an opt-in through a published quiz to register data into Klaviyo. This will first require you to add a quiz to a webpage where you can do test runs.

Then, any answers & results page you encounter along with your opt-in will be registered in Klaviyo.

πŸ“• Adding quiz data to Klaviyo manually

Custom properties can also be added into Klaviyo manually inside of individual profiles.

This is a quick way to register your quiz data! When a custom property is manually added just once into a profile, it will then be registered for all Klaviyo features.

What you can do in Klaviyo with Octane AI data

Once you've connected Klaviyo, verified and registered your quiz data, you're ready to target Octane AI data using Klaviyo features.

Here's a summary of what you can do with the integration:

πŸ’‘ Using the Klaviyo integration on the Octane base plan

On the Octane base plan, you'll be able to:

  • Create segments that target Octane AI data.

  • Create list-triggered flows.

  • Create date-triggered flows.

  • Insert custom properties (such as quiz answers) dynamically into emails.

πŸ’‘ Using the Klaviyo integration on the Octane Plus plan

On the Octane Plus plan, you'll be able to:

  • Create segments that target Octane AI data.

  • Create list-triggered flows.

  • Create date-triggered flows.

  • Create metric-triggered flows (like flows that start on quiz completion).

  • Insert custom properties (such as quiz answers) dynamically into emails.

  • Insert a results page URL dynamically into emails.

  • Insert product recommendations dynamically into emails.
