When you first create your quiz by following the steps here, your results will be set up automatically according to your generation prompt, and it will use Smart Products for its results by default. However, you can also change your results to use different systems. We will go over them in this article.

πŸ’‘ What you'll learn

Explaining the different results types

There are 3 different types of quiz results you can choose:

  • Smart Products

  • Dynamic Filtered Products (also known as Dynamic results for older quizzes)

  • Curated Product Selection (also known as Custom results for older quizzes)

Smart Products

Smart Products use AI to recommend products based on the instructions you set up in a prompt. You can read an in-depth guide on Smart Products here. This is the default product block that is initially set up when you first create your quiz.

Dynamic Filtered Products

Dynamic Filtered Products work by building a set of product recommendations through answer selections, then displaying matching products at the end of a quiz.

Products are added to individual answers in the Product Rankings tab of the quiz editor, where questions can be set to 1 of 3 ranking options:

  • Change rank a little (+1 or -1)

  • Change rank a lot (+10 or -10)

  • Match/Exclude

If questions are only set to rankings, products shown at the end will be the ones with the highest rankings.

If any questions are set to Match/Exclude, quizzes will only show products that match answers selected between Match/Exclude questions.

Match/Exclude rules are enabled

Adding products

You can add products, tags, or collections in the Product Rankings tab to any answer in your quiz.

This enables a wide range of quiz building strategies. Here are some ideas to start with:

  • Use one kind of ranking only (+1/-1 or +10/-10) to score the best products to show at the end.

  • Use Match/Exclude with large collections or tags to filter recommendations to matching products only.

  • Use +10/-10 for hero products and +1/-1 for secondary products.

Dynamic product settings

Some settings for dynamic product recommendations can be found inside the Dynamic Filtered Products block.

Here is an overview of all the available settings:

  • Max number of products: The maximum number of products that customers will see on this product block. Customers may see fewer products than this depending on how many products are in the quiz and how the ranking or match/exclude questions were set up, as well as the customer's answers.

  • Minimum ranking threshold: The minimum ranking score for a product to be recommended in this block. In the example screenshot, only products that have a ranking score of 2 or higher will be recommended.

  • Sort by: You can choose how the recommended products are sorted in the block. The options are Best selling, product title A-Z, product title Z-A, Highest price, Lowest price, Newest, and Oldest.

  • Group product variants in a dropdown menu: By checking this, the variants will be all displayed inside their parent product in a dropdown list format. If this is unchecked, the variants will be displayed as separate products.

  • Products that can be recommended: You can add which products can be recommended in this block. If no products are added here, the displayed products will be recommended based only on the answers. If you add products here, only the products in this list can be recommended, provided they also match the customer's answers and the ranking or match/exclude requirements set up by you.

Curated Product Selection

The Curated Product Selection block differs from Smart Products and the Dynamic Filtered Products in that every outcome is manually built, rather than relying on the quiz to filter out product choices.

You need to add the products that are displayed in this block. You can then use Advanced Logic on individual products inside this block to display the products based on the conditions you set up. You can also add logic to the block itself, or to the results page.

How to add or change the product block in your results page

By default, your quiz will be generated with a Fallback result page with Smart Products

You can click on Add results page to create a new results page, or click on Add block to create a new product block. If you add a new product block, you can choose the type of product block, or a block with only content and no products:

You can also click here to remove the current product block in your results page, and add a different type later:
